Cameroon to Conduct Fourth General Population Census in 2026
The Cameroonian government is set to conduct its fourth general population census in the first quarter of 2026, following previous censuses in 1976, 1987, and 2005. This upcoming census will also include a general census of agriculture and livestock.
During an interministerial meeting held on August 12, 2025, chaired by Prime Minister Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute, officials emphasized the importance of adhering to the established timetable for the coordinated activities leading up to the census. The Prime Minister stressed the necessity of thorough preparation before the physical execution of the operation in early 2026.
This census aims to provide updated demographic data and enhance agricultural statistics, which are crucial for informed policy-making and resource allocation in the country.
