October 12, Campaigns: Hon Wallang Richard Rallies Menchum for Biya's Victory

On Tuesday, September 30, the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) showcased its strength in Menchum as hundreds of supporters gathered at the Wum Grandstand for the official campaign launch ahead of the October 12 presidential election. The event was presided over by Hon. Wallang Richard Ebua, the Divisional Campaign Team President, in an atmosphere charged with enthusiasm as party members reaffirmed their commitment to delivering a 100% vote for their candidate, Paul Biya.

A Strong Message from Party Leaders

Hon. Wallang Richard Ebua, the Divisional Campaign Team President, who was accompanied by Mayor Dighambong Anthony Mvo and Central Committee envoy Hon. Nji Fidelis Muh-Ziah, emphasized the party's unity and determination. "We have only one tested and trusted candidate, President Paul Biya," Wallang declared. He highlighted Biya as the “natural candidate” for Menchum, a sentiment echoed by many in attendance.

Mayor Dighambong stressed the importance of grassroots engagement in their campaign strategy. “Our strategies are centered on grassroots engagement,” he explained, outlining plans to connect directly with potential voters rather than relying solely on large rallies. He expressed confidence in Wum’s ability to deliver quality results for Biya, urging citizens to support a leader whose experience has already transformed lives in the region.

Youth and Women Energized

The youth and women's wings of the party were particularly vocal during the event. The Youth Council of the CPDM (YCPDM) of Menchum I committed to mobilizing young voters, while Fungsen Patricia Mbie, President of the Women’s Council, electrified the crowd by highlighting the Head of State’s achievements in education, health, and infrastructure. She urged women to turn their gratitude into votes, emphasizing their crucial role in the upcoming elections.

 Cultural Ties and Political Conviction

In his keynote address, Hon. Wallang Richard galvanized the crowd with a blend of political conviction and cultural symbolism. He recalled the honorary title of “Fon of Fons” conferred on President Biya by North West traditional rulers, arguing that this recognition binds the people to honor their leader. “Since the crisis began in 2016, President Paul Biya has always been there for us,” he stated, reinforcing the cultural connection to Biya’s leadership.

Wallang contrasted Biya’s tangible achievements in infrastructure and services with the promises made by rival candidates, describing them as “promising heaven without the means to deliver.” He emphasized that the division is poised to return a 100% vote for the CPDM.

Development Projects as Evidence of Commitment

The rally also highlighted ongoing and promised projects, with both Hon. Wallang and Mayor Dighambong focusing on the Bamenda–Wum road, which has received direct presidential instructions for tarring. “It is our dying wish to see this road realized, and that is why we are voting for Paul Biya to continue what he started,” affirmed the mayor.

Quarter-level campaign teams are being established to mobilize voters at the grassroots level, steering clear of large show rallies. “Politics is not by word of mouth but by action,” the mayor told reporters, emphasizing the importance of tangible efforts in the campaign.

A Unified Voice for Stability and Development

Central Committee representative Hon. Nji Fidelis Muh-Ziah commended the turnout as a demonstration of unwavering loyalty. “The mobilization was massive, the commitment is clear, and the hope for development is alive,” he remarked, reinforcing the collective determination of the party members.

Senator Emeritus Wallang David Akwo joined other senior militants in reminding the audience that a vote for Paul Biya is a vote for stability and continued development in Menchum.

As the campaign gears up for October 12, the message from Wum is clear: Menchum stands united behind Paul Biya. As Hon. Wallang Richard summed it up, “He is our Fon of Fons, our leader, and our guarantee of progress.”
